Tiny Paper Toys

I've been working on some tiny paper toys for our next miniature fair. I really enjoy making these types of projects, but there's a limit to how many one dollhouse can hold.  Since my dollhouse is already crammed with tiny objects, it's good to have miniature shows to use as an excuse to make more.

I also did a little tidying of my workspace, which was getting completely out of hand. I'm usually pretty good about cleaning up if I'm working on one project at a time, but lately I've been working on two or three miniatures at once, which not only meant three times the supplies, but also that I never had a clear stopping point to pick up. Thankfully, this is the "before" photo! I desperately need to figure out a new solution for the things in the white baskets on the left. They hold most of my glues, specialty paints, nasty chemicals, etc. and are a constant mess. I've straightened them up for the moment, but I know they will revert to chaos the next time I use something.

  1. Hello Eliza, I am starting to believe that all miniaturists have problems with keeping their workspace orderly :-) And I'm no exception. Your tiny paper toys are brilliant. Have fun at the next miniature-fair!

  3. I think it's just the natural cycle of artists to make messes, clean once its gets disruptive and then start the cycle again. :D Love the tiny toys!

  6. Really Eliza, mess? What mess? Mine manages to leak all round the house - cluttering four different rooms to date! The tiny toys are just fabulous, do you work at eye level on a raised surface? The tiny coach is magic, can there be anyone inside? Best of luck at the mini fairs.

  8. Hi Eliza! Doing some catching up and see that I have missed these tiny wonders of yours for over a month! Both pieces are incredibly detailed and utterly charming! And as to your work space. As Betsy Daydreamer has said, it Does look well organized even in this Before photo. Paints NEVER stay tidy because however you choose to arrange them, it will all be for nought once the one that you Need is behind all of the others. :D
